A Deeper Meaning

It's been an interesting few days.

Arthur had been the main source of the intrigue. Wedge has explained most of the background. What actually happened between Arthur and myself is to stay between us. He has been on quite the journey, and I can assure all that ask me that he is dedicated to this life of Nine. We all make mistakes, and we all do things we aren't proud of. And often, the things we regret most aren't even our fault. He is young. But he is learning quickly. He will remain a great friend.
After convincing the others, including all the other Sectors, that he isn't a security risk or a liability, and that he won't join with Methias.

I travelled to meet with Sultan and Ramah, and then proceeded to find him. I found him, in the dark and the rain. It was only then, after he poured himself on to me, that I was sure about him. Up until then, I was always slightly wary of his intent and ability. Of course I trusted Wedge, but not him to the same extent. I couldn't look into his heart and see if it was the same as ours. But that night I did. And he is one of us. No longer a human running with tigers, but a wolf of Sector Nine.

I won't say what happened. I covered it up. He will talk about it when he is ready. But one thing remains: He is now as scarred as us.

Cambridge Signal

We tracked some readings from Elm halfway to Cambridge when Arthur calls to let us know that there's a signal being transmitted from Cambridge.

It was hard to get to, being near the centre of the city and on top of a tall building (I don't really care what the building was called). We couldn't find any traces of where Methias or his minions had gotten to, but we were able to download a copy of the transmission that was sent. I'll be damned if I can work it out though. All we have is a string of binary. With any luck, Tharis will help.

We're going back to Nine, and meeting Julian and Arthur there - they moved the body of the Beast back to Dartmoor. No doubt Methias would have been looking for it. That's probably where he went after Cambridge. I can't help but feel we're giving him what he wants.
But if we are to gain an advantage, we have to let him believe that we don't know. It feels like the Conventry all over again. Our history tells that story a little differently to most of human histories. I wasn't aware of it at the time. But that's a different matter.

We have to really start planning for the worst.

Redditch 2

Peterson was right. The fire was suspicious. But it wasn't actually a bomb this time like Peterson thought.

I've submitted a report of the composition of the charring, and no doubt Wedge and Julian will respond to it soon. Why? There are unmistakable remains of dragon fire. Fire produced by dragons is actually very different to normal fire - for a start, it's more like a plasma fire rather than combustion. The details aren't really relevant, other than there are definite trace elements and molecules remaining once something is torched (if you know what to look for, of course).

It was a medical research lab. Yes, 'was' - it's a blackened mess now. There wasn't a clear mark from Methias, but under infrared scanners the mark appeared on the wall.

Peterson joined us - he insisted, and Wedge I don't think could be bothered to stop him. I guess we did owe him for finding it for us. And leaving the scene untouched until we got there. He's proving to be a really good ally; he proved he could be trusted. And didn't seem to mind us talking about things he didn't understand.

Julian is analysing the body as we speak - there was a charred body buried among the rubbish.

Redditch

Peterson has informed me of a suspicious explosion that occurred three days prior in Redditch.

Will investigate.

Server Bombs

Another bomb on a server, in Littleport.

Same as the other one. Could cause one hell of a bang.

Thing is - Littleport wasn't on the truck route - that truck was servicing Aylesbury - Birmingham - Cambridge. I suppose that Methias could have taken it off the truck at Cambridge and transported it to Littleport.

I didn't understand why this particular place. I looked into it, and as it turns out this place is one of the few relay servers for the internet on this side of England. Sure everything's wireless, and to take out the net you'd have to take out all the computers, but to take out a series of servers that host important pages would cripple the net.

So I think that's the plan. Take out the internet, watch as humanity destroys itself in panic.

Been quite busy though lately, only just getting to updating now. Arthur came back just a few days ago, so things have been a little crazy.

Liaison

I did end up taking up Arthur on his advice. While investigating the truck route, I consulted with the head of the national police force. I don't know if they call it that, but it's basically the organisation that organises the different police forces in all the places in England and the rest of the UK. Not quite as high up as the director of the secret service, but they work together. Their director, Inspector Jack Peterson, was good to work with. I prefer this crowd than the know-alls up higher... this guy actually got out there himself and got involved in the work, accepted the authorities above him on a need-to-know basis and was really knowledgeable as well as cooperative. We're going to liaise with him and his department about the murders and dangers to the public. And he's offered his help with manpower without asking too many questions.

So that was when I was tracking the truck route. Didn't find much. Then there was this death at a large building in Kibworth Harcourt, of an IT guy. Went there and investigated it, but the radiation signature was coming from the room instead... so Julian types things in his blog hoping Wedge would read it while I take the readings. And Wedge did read it, and responded back with the calculations I would have had to have done. It would have taken hours and hours, but since Wedge is in an alternate timeframe, hours for her is minutes for us.

Turns out there was a device strapped underneath the casing of the servers... nuclear bomb type device. We couldn't remove it, not without detonating it, so we've just put a field around it so it won't destroy the building if it blows - just the server room. However, the good thing was that once I had the precise specs I could scan nearby for similar devices - and I found one. So now, we're off to Littleport.

Uranium

Ok I'm just saying what everyone is thinking but no one wants to say it.

The Uranium that went missing in Asia and the radiation signature on the body are connected. Methias is importing it here.

And it should have been a lot.
